Before you decide to click away from this blog and say " another hippie/yuppie post ...pass". I want you to stop and give me just a few minutes of your time to show you that you really have misunderstood what frankincense is all about.  Frankincense comes from the dried sap of trees or the Boswellia sacra. These trees tend to grow in Oman, Yemen and in the Horn of Africa.They also can be found in Somalia and Ethiopia. When dried the sap is burned as incense and thought to have several medicinal properties.

Health and Meditative Benefits of Frankincense

Frankincense has been known for its meditative purposes such as creating a peaceful and cleansed spiritual environment. It helps remove negative energy taking you to a higher level of frequency. Frankincense can be used as an oil or resin form for these practises.  Frankincense was also used for worship as it was said that by using frankincense your prayers would  be carried to heaven.It can be combined with other oils such as myrrh to create these same experiences as well. As I has stated before Frankincense has a double coined side to it so let's get to the health benefits.

The health benefits of frankincense oil are mostly attributed to its anti-inflammatory, astringent, antiseptic, disinfectant, digestive, diuretic, and expectorant properties. It also has cicatrisant, carminative, cytophylactic, emenagogue, uterine, and vulnerary effects.
